If you need a more reliable computer or have a more specific purpose like high performance gaming then a custom build computer is your best option.
The problem with buying a PC from the large retailers is that your never really sure what's inside the box. It may look a good spec for the price but quite often it's been made up of the cheapest parts they can get their hands on. Also it will almost certainly come with annoying adverts and preinstalled trial software taking up space on the hard drive.
